Keep out sign on a empty road

The lies. The lies. The lies. We have to talk about these tithing lies that are taking over Nigeria. Former Nigerian presidential aide Reno Omokri, warns his fellow Nigerians about the tithing deception. He tweeted there are lies they must stop believing in 2021.

Reno points out four tithing lies Prosperity Gospel preachers teach. Today, I’m tackling the tithe lie. It’s time that we shed light and dispel these falsehoods. Let’s get started.

1. You’re Broke Because You Don’t Pay Tithes

If you don’t pay tithes, things will be tighter for you. Said another way, you’re having financial problems because you don’t tithe.

There are many reasons why believers experience money troubles. And none of them have anything to do with tithing. For instance, poor money habits are an issue. Sometimes we spend more than what we earn.

Another factor impacting finances is unexpected situations. A medical health crisis places many believers in debt or bankruptcy.

The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic disrupted many people’s lives. Businesses were closed, and people lost their livelihoods. These circumstances are beyond our control and wreak havoc on the finances.

The lack of financial literacy creates cash problems. Most of us weren’t money management and wealth accumulation. We don’t know about saving, investing, reducing liabilities, accumulating assets, etc. We don’t know how to make money work for us. Nope. Society encourages us to get into debt.

So, believers aren’t broke because they don’t tithe. There’s no biblical support for this lie.

2. You Must Give the Church Money if You Want Prosperity

Your prosperity is tied to your giving to the church. Yep. That’s the message some pro-tithe, Prosperity Gospel preachers tell their congregations.

What does this sound like to me? They say you can only prosper when you give your pastor’s church money. This is manipulation.

Monopolizing the believer’s money is the goal. These preachers seemingly want their followers’ extra money. Don’t spend your bonus, first 10% income, or additional funds. Put it all in the church if you want financial success.

This is nonsense. Let me share my testimony. I started giving money in 2020 regularly. Anonymous giving is part of my Kingdom lifestyle.

I don’t give churches money right now, but I bless people I don’t know with cash. Since doing this, Father Yah has blessed me with miraculous provision.

God doesn’t limit our giving to the church. Plus, the Most High has proven you don’t have to give to a church to prosper. I’m a living testimony.

3. The Devil Attacks You When You Don’t Tithe

Ready for another tithe lie? Some Pro-tithing preachers proclaim you’re open to demonic attacks if you don’t tithe. Okay, I’m about to say something that may not be popular.

The enemy will attack you, regardless of whether you pay so-called tithes. Why? Because we’re in spiritual warfare.

There’s a war between Satan’s kingdom and God’s kingdom. Satan doesn’t want God’s kingdom reigning on earth. So, what does he do?

He comes after the children of the Most High. Why? Because it’s our responsibility to expand the heavenly kingdom in the physical realm.

Plus, the Bible doesn’t say believers won’t encounter satanic attacks. Here’s proof:

Psalm 34:19 tells us, “the righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”

Yes, believers will experience hardships. That’s life. But the Scriptures promise deliverance.

Okay, now let’s look at more Scripture. 1 Peter 4:12-13 says:

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

KJV

Pro-tithing and Prosperity Gospel preachers give people a false sense of hope. They’re telling their followers nothing terrible will happen to them when they pay tithes. Well, that’s not what the Bible says.

Prosperity Gospel preachers give people a false sense of hope.

4. Non-Tithers May Lose Their Salvation

The fourth brother Reno exposes is that tithing affects your salvation. What are they saying? If you don’t tithe, you’ll lose your salvation. Are you going to hell? You’re not saved if you don’t tithe?

Let’s dive into salvation. What does it mean according to the Hebrew and Greek lexicons? Salvation refers to help, deliverance, victory, safety, and rescue. Salvation means being saved from certain situations.

Now, the tithe won’t save you. But the Bible reveals the source of a believer’s salvation.

Excuse me! If you want to know about the SECRET relationship between tithes and hell, I encourage you to check out an article I wrote. The article uncovers the truth about what to do when you fear going to hell for not paying tithes.

Exodus 15:2
The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

KJV

2 Samuel 22:3
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

KJV

It doesn’t say the tithe is my rock, my refuge, my shield, and the tithe is the horn of my salvation. The Lord is your salvation, not tithes.

Check out what King David said about salvation.

Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

KJV

Psalms 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

KJV

Psalm 37:39
But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

KJV

Again, salvation comes from the Lord, not the tithe.

Whatever you’re going through, turn to the Lord. He’s your salvation. Not paying 10% of your income to a church won’t impact your salvation.

Summary

There you have it. Four lies you shouldn’t believe, according to Nigerian brother Reno Omokri. If you don’t pay tithes, things will be tight for you. Two, your prosperity is tied to giving to the church. Three, you’re open to demonic attacks if you don’t tithe. Finally, if you don’t tithe, it affects your salvation. I pray you gained clarity about this tithe deception.

Financial prosperity is much more than accumulating wealth. God expects us to manage and use our resources to glorify Him (Proverbs 3:9-10). Sure, we can have enough to meet our needs.
