Chapter 14 in the Book of Genesis recounts the story of four kings who plundered the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. During the invasion, Abram’s nephew Lot was held captive. Abram and his men went to battle with those kings. They rescued Lot and retrieved all the possessions stolen from the cities.
Later, Abram met with the King of Sodom and King Melchizedek of Salem. When King Melchizedek blessed Abram, he gave the King a tithe (or tenth) of the spoils from the battle.
