Judgment Begins In God’s House
One thing that each of these preachers has in common is that they teach tithing or the Prosperity Gospel to one extent or the other. And some of their teachings about tithing and prosperity are either misleading or inaccurate.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these particular ministries came under investigation. Is God using the inquiry to rebuke these preachers for their false teachings?

Frequently Asked Questions About the Prosperity Gospel
What’s the Meaning of Word Prosperity Gospel?
The term “Prosperity Gospel” refers to a Christian theological belief that financial blessings and physical well-being are always the will of God for His believers. Faith, positive confessions, and tithing will also increase one’s material wealth and health.
This teaching states God rewards acts of faith with health, wealth, and success. Proponents claim that believers will reap multiplied returns by sowing financial seeds, often into their ministries.
What Are the Reasons Why the Prosperity Gospel Is Wrong?
Critics argue the Prosperity Gospel is wrong for several reasons. Firstly, they believe it distorts biblical teachings by prioritizing material wealth and health over spiritual growth and a genuine relationship with God. Secondly, it can exploit vulnerable believers, suggesting that lack of blessings or health challenges are due to insufficient faith or failure to give enough money.
Lastly, the Prosperity Gospel often focuses on personal gain rather than the biblical principles of selflessness, sacrifice, and serving others. Many reference verses like 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV), which states, “For the love of money is the root of all evil,” as a counterpoint to Prosperity Gospel teachings.
What’s the Justification for Prosperity Gospel?
Proponents of the Prosperity Gospel justify their beliefs using various Bible verses, interpreting them to mean that God promises material wealth and health to those who have faith and give generously. They often reference verses like Malachi 3:10, which speaks of bringing tithes to the storehouse and seeing if God will not “open the windows of heaven” with blessings.
They also point to scriptures like 3 John 1:2 (KJV): “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth,” interpreting it as God’s desire for believers to be materially prosperous. Furthermore, stories of biblical figures like Abraham and Solomon, who were both faithful and wealthy, are used to support the idea that God rewards faith with material blessings.
